The Ilkeston Outlaws senior men’s team compete in the Nottinghamshire Sherwood League’s premier division. The Outlaws have played in the Sherwood Basketball League since its inception, and have grown and shrank through the years as people have come and gone. Fielding as many as 4 teams in the clubs highest points.

After the 2013-2014 season. The top-level outlaws team was forced to disband, leaving the club with a risk that they would not host a team that featured some of their old youth players inside the Sherwood League. Fortunately a team was formed featuring ex-youth players that had recently come back from university or had settled down at their jobs enough to have time on their hands to play basketball again. The team was entered into the Sherwood League Division II; a complete team overhaul!

The 2015-16 team ended up featuring only 2 returning players from the season before. However, the Outlaws went on to come second in that season and gain a spot in the first division.

Following the success of the 2015-16 season, the outlaws numbers grew through the summer. Allowing the team to enter 2 teams into the Sherwood basketball league. One at the top tier and one in the second division. Unfortunately the second team’s numbers dwindled towards the end of the season and the collective decision would be made to focus on first team basketball heading into the 2017-18 season.

The first team managed to win enough games to cement themselves in the top tier of Nottingham Basketball and hope to build upon that in the 2017-18 season.

The core of the team have been involved in the Outlaws family since childhood, currently the team has 8 players that have come up from the Outlaws youth unit, gaining valuable National League experience as they grew.
